Leodaire Thierremont

Highwayman, Wanted Criminal, Abject Problem, Ishgardian Expat

A face seen on wanted posters in Gridania and Ishgard, to the disdain of his brother, the thirty-three year old's reputation tends to precede him by a few yalms at the least.

Very closed off save for to the scant few close to him who he has not robbed blind, those who followed the news out of Ishgard at the time and those who hunt criminals know that the younger son of a branch of House Thierremont left the city nine years ago after having burgled multiple of the clergy and subsequently escaped prison, branded a heretic, and framed for multiple murders of Brume residents in the wake of his leaving. While the heresy charges have been dropped, the rest remain...

Following his departure, he took up highway robbery, and presently divides his activities between that, his casual residence in Shirogane, or ventures to the Golden Saucer when he deems it worth chancing to indulge his Triple Triad habit.

Unknowingly possessed of the Echo, Leo does not question his combat prowess given its obvious advantages, but he certainly would appreciate it if he would stop having strange visions out of the blue and accidentally insulting the mothers of beastmen.

Leodaire is fond of pretty faces and strong drink, and is like to find his way to both. While he rarely speaks of it, before his fall from grace he was a skilled violinist, if one retired from the stage in young adulthood.

Most often, if not committing robberies, he can be found around Kugane or Shirogane, where his neighbours do not seem to realize that they have a wanted criminal in their midst; usually in the company of boyfriend Kitava'a Chakam, roommate-turned-family Kudzu, or his son, Gabriel Rivers.

He’d a French cocked-hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of the claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin.
They fitted with never a wrinkle. His boots were up to the thigh.
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

Appearance

Standing at 6'10", he has a lean build, made for speed more than strength. His face is festooned with scars, and usually wears a smirk, as if he's carrying a secret joke at someone's expense. He usually wears an eyepatch, even with a hat, to allow a swifter adjustment to seeing in dark environments, and hiding that his eyes are mismatched, the right a few shades lighter than the left.

He favours either a rather flashy outfit for someone attempting to not be caught out, or comfortable clothes in shades of grey and black. Whatever the occasion, he always seems to have a small arsenal of weapons somewhere on his person, all of them eye-searingly purple.

  • Flexible post lengths, slow typer.

  • Not firmly enough married to canon to mind if you are doing something outlandish.

  • Clumsy at combat roleplay; prefers one-on-one freeform with friends that can discuss a fight.

  • Combat roleplay must be negotiated beforehand due to Leo's general lack of moral compass.

  • LGBTQA+ positive; player is under the umbrella.

Void is an adult old enough to remember cassette tapes and how his walkman would chew his up. While he has roleplayed since 2002, this has mostly made him unable to justify how often he accidentally chuckles twice in one emote.

Aldric Thierremont
Thirty-seven

The older brother of the brothers bastard, Aldric Thierremont is the quintessential bully; a noble man of sufficiently elevated standing that everyone else looks like an ant, and is treated thusly.

There is a chip the size of Leo's shadow in his shoulder, and a deep, abiding resentment for the turn Ishgardian politics has taken - he may not be able to be outwardly hostile towards those once deemed heretics anymore, nor blatantly abuse his position as a Temple Knight to place a boot upon their necks, but he still longs to introduce them to Witchdrop with his bare hands.

Jasmine Thierremont, nee Veaucelle
Thirty at Death

The granddaughter of a pureblooded Duskwight elevated to noble status by her former employer, Jasmine Veaucelle was a great beauty and an accomplished violinist in her own right, whose loving marriage with Ivraux Thierremont was so integral to his basic decency that, when she died of a wasting disease, it was never seen again.

In modern times, Jasmine spends her days kicking Ivraux around the halls of Halone for failing both their boys.

Ivraux Thierremont
Sixty at Death

Never a very emotionally available man to begin with, the bulk of Ivraux's efforts were given to his lady wife, Jasmine; in the wake of her death when their sons were eight and four, he effectively shut down. His older son Aldric, more like him, weathered it so well that he emulated him. His younger... bore the brunt of never being good enough and always being an afterthought. Ivraux passed of a heart attack at sixty, still ashamed of his younger son.

Euphemie Purcell
Seventy-seven

Hired on as a servant of the Thierremont family when she was no older than twenty, by the time Ivraux and Jasmine married Euphemie was the head housekeeper, and ran a tight ship. She had not anticipated the all-too-early death of Jasmine, nor Ivraux's entire emotional abandonment of his younger son. The closest thing to a mother figure Leodaire had in his childhood and youth, she wept for days upon his arrest, and mourns him yet as a mother would her own son. She is one of few people Aldric will not raise a hand to.

Annette Rivers
Thirty-two

A Brume rat since birth, and a sex worker when one lanky Elezen bad boy sauntered into her life, Annette has a talent for taking bullshit and making a garden that, if not flourishing, will serve. Which is why she didn't go stark raving mad in the years since Leo fled the city a wanted man and she subsequently bore his son alone save for the midwife. Having since learned bookkeeping under Gilbrillont and learned to shoot, upon learning the location of her errant former friend-with-benefits she sought him out before settling in the Goblet instead of returning to Ishgard to live. She has mostly forgiven Leo... except for the nine years of no Mothers' Day gifts, and for his son's head being enormous.

Gabriel Rivers
Nine

Gabriel, or Gabe as his mother and friends call him, has not had an easy time in his short life - it's a small black mark, being visibly the child of one of Ishgard's most wanted. Nonetheless, he holds no small amount of fascination about his father, even when his heritage has gone so far as to earn him a scar from a rock thrown by a noble boy.

Now enjoying the education paid for by Leo's thievery, he's proving a smart young chap as well as a devious little scoundrel who already cheats at cards better than most adults.

  • Are you Ishgardian? Do you keep up on the news? Were you keeping up on the news nine years ago when he seduced his way into access to Holy See property, sacked it, subsequently got arrested (nude, no less! Scandalous), escaped from prison, stole his brother's chocobo, and fled the city? Are you an offended noble? An entertained Brume resident? An angry Brume resident who knows Leodaire Thierremont never would have committed the murders of Brume residents he was accused of after his departure? Perhaps you've noticed a half-Hyur Brume rat kid with an uncanny resemblance to the wanted man...

  • Are you a Redbelly or associated with them? Do you conduct criminal activity within the Black Shroud? Then you may be passing familiar with the highwayman, especially if you fall into the first category, given that they gave him his facial tattoos.

  • Are you a member of the Twin Adders? Are you a Wood Wailer? Are you a Noble, Good, Upstanding Gridanian? Then you may recognize his face from his wanted posters and may even have given chase at some point!

  • Do you like gambling? While he is less often found at the tables himself, those who win against his usual Miqo'te companion often find themselves relieved of their gains within a fortnight... Curious.
